A Thermal Image of Your Home - Free

Would you like to have your house thermal imaged to find out where you could be losing heat?

How it works: Thermal images have to be taken after dark and when the heating is on.  The images show where heat is escaping from your home (shown in red and yellow) and where energy saving home improvement like insulation could save you both energy and money.

We will arrange to take an image of your house one evening in February. In March we are holding an open meeting where you will be given a report of your home on a one-to-one basis with one of our thermal imagers.

We'll provide you with advice and information on how to save energy and reduce your energy bills.

Who is doing the survey? South Oxfordshire District Council have provided a thermal imaging camera for the use of community groups.  Greening Chinnor volunteers will be taking the photos.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year from Greening Chinnor

A few things that you may be interested in:

Our next free thermal imaging sessions will take place between 2-13 February. This service is open to all residents of Chinnor and will involve taking a series of infrared thermal images of the outside of the house to see areas of heat loss. This will enable you to take steps to help conserve energy and hopefully save money.

If you are interested in this service please supply your contact information to Maureen Dyroff at mdyroff@tiscali.co.uk or telephone 01844 352816. There is a limit of 30 households and the list will close once this number has been reached. All successful households will be contacted once the list is completed.

Thank you to all who completed the survey on our 2014 thermal imaging project. We appreciate your feedback and comments which have been incorporated into the process for 2015.

Remember that waste collection days change over the Christmas period and Biffa waste collection is Wednesday this week - grey bin and food bin will be collected.





Recycle your old Christmas tree at Whites Field car park up by Monday 19th January. Please put your trees in the coned off area (no artificial trees).

WWI Memorial Tree Planting

An excellent afternoon was had on Sunday 26 October with the WW1 Memorial Tree Planting working party.

The working party was formed as part of the Chinnor and Henton WW1 Memorial project organised by Geoffrey Bamford and Lynn Lloyd to commemorate those who are listed on the Chinnor and Henton War Memorials who gave their lives 1914-1918.

 

The 14 volunteers split into 3 groups and headed off to plant:

• 3 Limes at the Hill Road Recreation Ground
• 1 Oak at White’s Field
• 2 Whitebeams in Keens Lane
• 2 Beech at Old Kiln Lakes
• 1 Oak in Henton

As part of this project, trees were also planted at Mill Lane School and St Andrews School and in Estover Way Nature Reserve by Tiddlypeeps.

Next year a Lime tree will be planted in St Andrew's playing field.
 

A plaque with the location of all the trees is situated on the wall at the War Memorial.
